CHH’s SHEQ Manager Sarah Sherwood has enrolled in the IEMA Certificate in Environmental Management Practitioner Membership (PIEMA). The internationally respected qualification will give Sarah the knowledge and insight she needs to help drive CHH’s sustainability agenda and ensure we embed best practice throughout our value chain.
Our Sustainability Plan 2024 lays out an ambitious roadmap for securing success by serving the triple bottom line of people, profit and planet. From reducing emissions to developing a value proposition that supports the circular economy, we are committed to playing our part in securing a more sustainable future.
To boost our capabilities, we have appointed our SHEQ Manager Sarah Sherwood as sustainability lead and invested in a highly acclaimed training programme to ensure she has the skills needed to secure positive impacts.
The qualification is designed for environmental professionals and is respected for its rigorous standards. Certification signifies a high level of expertise and a commitment to best practice and equips delegates with the tools, knowledge and connections to drive meaningful change. The programme comprises three in-depth modules delivered over three weeks by expert tutors. Topics range from sustainable business models to environmental legislation.
Sarah has a wealth of experience across the business leading on safety, health, environmental and quality. She is CHH’s longest serving employee, joining the business in 1990 as a manufacturing operator. She has taken on various roles over the ensuing years and has been there throughout CHH’s growth journey. She helped CHH secure ISO 14001 and has been instrumental in maintaining standards and driving continuous improvement
Sarah said: “I’m very excited about helping CHH implement its sustainability strategy. We’ve already made great progress setting out the vision and laying the foundations. My role now is to help take that to the next level. The PIEMA qualification will really help me build the knowledge and skills I will need.”
Meeting our sustainability objectives will require buy in from the entire workforce and Sarah is looking forward to engaging with colleagues across the business in helping maintain momentum. Priorities for the remainder of the year include starting to measure Scope 3 emissions, identifying ways to reduce our carbon footprint and developing smart connectivity solutions that help keep resources in the value chain.
CHH Chief Executive Officer Paul Turner said: “Sarah is a natural fit as a sustainability lead and PIEMA will set her in good stead for the work ahead. We are committed to implementing our sustainability strategy and maximising the opportunities it offers both for CHH and our key stakeholders. 2025 will be a pivotal year for our business as we extend our reach, and ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) principles will sit at the heart of our growth strategy.”
