CHH joins the Association of Meter Operators
CHH has become a member of the Association of Meter Operators (AMO), the trade body representing meter operators across Great Britain. Membership is a mark of recognition, confirming that CHH’s experience, capability and professional standards meet the bar set by the metering industry. For a business built on supporting the sector, it signals the next stage in a relationship that already runs deep.
Established in 1996, the AMO brings together the companies responsible for gas, electricity and smart metering across Great Britain. Its members meet regularly throughout the year to discuss technical, operational and regulatory issues, giving the industry a single, informed voice on the matters that affect it. The association represents its members on consultative bodies, provides a forum for shared learning, and promotes best working practice across the sector. It is recognised by government, regulators and industry partners as an authority on all things metering.
CHH’s application was sponsored by a number of customers including Octopus Energy which is a business that sits on the AMO board. Those endorsements mean that CHH is the only logistics solutions provider judged by the industry to have the credentials required to sit at the table as a full member, rather than simply a supplier. It is confirmation that our approach to metering logistics stands up to scrutiny from within the industry itself.
CHH has been at the forefront of the UK’s smart meter rollout since the beginning, supporting engineers through millions of installations. That experience has shaped how we think about the sector and what it needs from a partner. Rather than remaining a single-point supplier, we have developed end-to-end solutions, brought together under the CHH 360 proposition.
CHH 360 connects product solutions, technical services, managed services and life cycle solutions into one accountable model, covering everything from design and supply through to deployment, tracking and recovery.
Managed Services is where much of this comes to life day to day, and it has grown considerably in recent years to give metering engineers a rapid response service they can rely on. Within it sits Final Mile, which gets consumables, tools, uniform and PPE to field engineers through a national network of more than 1500 pick-up and drop-off (PUDO) locations, cutting the time engineers spend chasing stock and improving efficiency across large-scale installation programmes. Every month, our team supplies parts to engineers with an on time in full rate above 99.5%, and our ordering portal makes it straightforward for professionals to get everything they need for the day ahead.
CHH’s Life Cycle Solutions gives metering companies proper control over what happens to a meter once it comes off the wall. When an engineer removes a meter, regulation requires the asset owner to be notified within 30 days and then given the chance to arrange its return. Getting that process right matters. Our approach captures data from the moment of removal through our mobile app, tracking every asset through totes, PUDO locations and warehouses so customers have genuine visibility of where things sit, rather than only finding out once an asset physically arrives back with us. We reconcile that data against the customer’s and industry’s records to flag discrepancies early. It all adds up to fewer assets lost in the supply chain, less waste, less financial impact and stronger reporting for our customers.
It is this combination of logistics expertise, operational delivery and life cycle oversight that sets us apart, and it is exactly the kind of professional, well-governed approach the AMO looks for in its members.
“Joining the AMO is a significant step for us. It is recognition from the industry we’ve served for years that CHH belongs at the table, not just as a supplier but as a genuine partner shaping the future of metering logistics. We’re incredibly proud of what our team has built, and this is a milestone that reflects the trust our customers and partners place in us,” says Russel Parr, Chief Commercial Officer at CHH.
CHH’s membership of the AMO is proof that our full turnkey model stands up to the scrutiny of the industry we serve. From product solutions and technical services through to final mile delivery and life cycle management, CHH is built to take on operational responsibility that others hand back.
