We are proud to launch our 2025 Sustainability Report, marking a key milestone in CHH’s ongoing commitment to best practice. The report highlights the progress made over the past two years and sets out the next phase of our work in reducing environmental impact, strengthening governance, and achieving our goals whilst creating long-term value for people and planet.
Working with sustainability partner Wylde Connections, we have built a structured framework that aligns with the UN Sustainable Development Goals and integrates environmental, social and governance principles into every part of the business. The report outlines measurable achievements, including the completion of baseline Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions calculations across Scopes 1, 2 and 3, the introduction of data-driven improvement plans, and the continued embedding of sustainability into our operations.
This latest publication reflects our belief that acting sustainably is not about reaching a destination but driving continuous improvement. By combining solid data with practical actions, we are ensuring that our environmental goals go hand in hand with operational efficiency and business growth.
Embracing circularity
Our strategy builds on our strength as a provider of end-to-end service solutions. The same expertise that drives CHH’s engineering and connectivity projects is now being applied to help customers reduce waste, recover value, and make better use of resources. Through our Life Cycle Solutions model, we are supporting clients to extend the lifespan of assets and adopt more circular approaches.
From asset recovery and refurbishment to repair and retrofit services, our systems are designed to reduce environmental impact while delivering commercial benefit. For instance, our technology allows smart metering equipment to be logged, tracked and returned for reuse rather than disposal. Similarly, our maintenance programmes are extending the life of field cabinets and other key infrastructure, helping to prevent waste and cut emissions in line with industry targets.
We demand high standards across our business and the report outlines clear improvement goals. By 2030, we aim to reduce waste generation by 25% and waste intensity by 33%. These targets are supported by improvements to recycling facilities and the rollout of workforce-wide training focused on responsible resource use and behavioural change.
Driving decarbonisation
Measuring and managing emissions is a cornerstone of our sustainability strategy. Our GHG (Greenhouse Gas) baseline assessment confirmed that Scope 3 emissions account for around 95% of CHH’s total footprint, mainly from purchased goods and services. This finding has shaped our next phase of work: engaging suppliers to share responsibility and identifying where collaboration can deliver faster reductions.
We are also investing in energy efficiency across our operations. 44% of our current electricity already comes from renewable sources, and we plan to switch to a fully renewable tariff at the end of our existing contract. Our ambition is to cut energy consumption and intensity by half by 2030 through equipment upgrades, digital monitoring and better energy management practices. These actions are backed by our ISO 14001 certification, which confirms our commitment to strong environmental governance and continuous improvement.
Leading the way
CHH’s success is built on its people. We are proud to have a workforce that combines experience, technical skill and long-term loyalty. Many of our colleagues have been with us for decades, contributing not just their expertise but also a deep understanding of what makes CHH unique. To recognise this, we are launching a new employee recognition and reward programme that celebrates individuals who demonstrate leadership and commitment in advancing our goals.
We are also investing in training and development to build capability across the business. Our SHEQ Manager, Sarah Sherwood, is completing an ISEP Certificate in Environmental Management, helping to embed knowledge that supports day-to-day decision-making and future planning. At the same time, we are enhancing wellbeing facilities, including collaborative spaces and rest areas at our Birmingham site, ensuring that CHH remains a positive and motivating place to work.
The next steps
The 2025 Sustainability Report documents the measurable progress already achieved while outlining the practical steps that will guide our business into its next phase of improvement. Over the coming year, we will refine our data collection, deepen supplier engagement, and expand our work on Life Cycle Solutions to address wider challenges such as circularity and resource recovery.
Reflecting on the report, Paul Turner, Chief Executive Officer, said: “This document is about accountability, collaboration and long-term value. We have made real progress, but there is still more to do. What matters is that we maintain momentum by understanding our impacts, improving how we work, and helping our customers make more sustainable choices.”
In the coming year, our focus remains on creating shared value for customers, employees, and the wider environment. By taking a measured, data-led approach and staying true to our values we will continue to demonstrate the business case for responsible practice. The 2025 Sustainability Report stands as both a benchmark and a roadmap for ongoing progress, ensuring that we lead by example.
