CHH is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with Urban Telecom, a specialist telecom engineering company with more than twenty years of industry expertise. This collaboration allows us to enhance our manufacturing offer with expert installation and commissioning support. By combining our capability in designing and supplying high quality cabinets with Urban Telecom’s network engineering services, CHH can now ensure that customers receive a seamless experience from the moment equipment is ordered through to installation and commissioning on site. It is an important step in our commitment to be the trusted partner for critical network infrastructure, helping customers manage complex deployments through our full turnkey solutions.
Urban Telecom was founded to meet the growing demand for highly skilled telecom engineers. With two decades of experience, the company delivers engineering and installation services across the UK, focusing on fibre networks and next generation solutions. They maintain a database of more than forty vetted contractors with a wide range of skills, specialising in fibre installation, cabinet builds, network migrations and end to end commissioning.
The business works on both passive and active equipment, including routers, switches, optical line terminals, console servers, antennas and power distribution units. It also undertakes network upgrades, capacity increases, customer integrations and site audits. This breadth of expertise ensures that projects are completed efficiently and to the highest standard.
There is a clear synergy between CHH and Urban Telecom. Forming a partnership allows us to continue extending our service offer. Since August, Urban Telecom has been supporting our customers by supplying engineers for installation and commissioning tasks. When a customer orders cabinets from CHH, we can now offer a full installation service by sourcing the right engineer for the task.
On a typical day around four Urban Telecom engineers are deployed on CHH projects. Demand has been strong; the team has been fully booked through the end of October and already has around forty requests in hand for November. The engineers install cabinets on site, connect fibre to local exchanges and ensure that network equipment is commissioned and tested. They also support fibre exchanges by installing and testing cabling, performing migrations and cutovers and upgrading networks when customers need greater capacity or new services. Urban Telecom’s varied skill sets, and rigorous training and vetting procedures mean that every engineer arrives fully prepared to deliver quality and reliability.
Roy Walker, Director of Urban Telecom, explains: “We set up the business two years ago and have been talking to CHH about how we could help them extend their offer to customers. Our first job together was in Milton Keynes in July and since then the relationship has grown week by week. Working alongside CHH means that our teams can support customers with everything from cabinet installation to fibre migrations. It is a mutually beneficial partnership that brings the best of both companies to the customer.” Roy himself has more than fourteen years of field service experience, so he understands first-hand how essential it is to deliver work right the first time.
For CHH, the partnership represents a natural evolution of our solutions approach. CEO Paul Turner explained: “We are always looking for ways to improve our customer proposition. Until now, we have focused on supplying cabinets and equipment, and customers would have to arrange installation separately. Working with Urban Telecom means we can offer a full service that includes installation and commissioning. It is a genuine extension of our offer, and it ensures that the customer receives consistent quality from purchase through to go live.”
He adds: “Working with Urban Telecom strengthens our ability to deliver complete network solutions. By combining our manufacturing expertise with their installation capability, we can provide a seamless customer journey from product design and build to final commissioning. It also gives us the flexibility to meet increased demand and respond quickly to customer requirements.”
In the coming months we look forward to seeing how the partnership evolves. If your organisation requires manufacturing, installation or commissioning support for network infrastructure, contact CHH to discuss how we can help. Our team will work with you to define your requirements and mobilise the right resources for smart connectivity.
